Privacy policy

The short version

You can use every page of Keto Atlas without telling me who you are. There are no accounts. The only time I collect your name or email address is if you choose to join the email list or email me yourself.

What gets collected automatically

Like every website, Keto Atlas runs on servers that see basic technical details when you visit: your IP address, your browser and device type, and which pages you load. The site is hosted by Vercel and the dish photos are delivered by Cloudinary, and both handle these details only to send you the page, keep it fast, and protect it from abuse. I do not use them to identify you, and I do not sell them.

The site uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views, so I can see which pages are popular. It does not use cookies and does not identify individual visitors.

Words you type into the search box are used to find matching dishes. They are not linked to you.

The email list

If you sign up for the free Restaurant Survival Guide or the email list, I collect the first name (if you give one) and email address you enter. The list is run by Kit (kit.com, formerly ConvertKit), which stores your details on my behalf and sends the emails. Kit also records basic details such as when you signed up and whether you opened or clicked an email, which helps me see which emails are useful.

I use your email address only to send you the guide and Keto Atlas emails: restaurant tips, new cuisines, and news about the Keto Atlas app. I do not sell or rent your details, and I do not share them with anyone except Kit, which needs them to send the emails.

Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it and you will get no more emails. You can also email me and I will delete your details from the list. Kit's own privacy policy is at kit.com/privacy.

Cookies and storage

Keto Atlas itself does not set cookies. It does save one small note in your browser's storage after you close or complete the email sign-up box, so it does not keep popping up. It holds no personal details, and clearing your browser data removes it.

The sign-up form is provided by Kit, which may use cookies or similar storage it needs for the form to work.

Ads

Keto Atlas may show ads from Google AdSense to cover the cost of running the site. When ads are shown, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners show you ads based on those visits.

You can turn off personalised ads at Google's Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com), or opt out of many third-party vendors' cookies at www.aboutads.info. Where the law requires it, for example in the UK and the European Union, you will be asked for your consent before any ad cookies are used.

If you email me

If you write to theketoatlas@gmail.com, I will use your email address only to reply to you. Emailing me does not add you to the email list, and I will not share your address with anyone.

Children

Keto Atlas is not aimed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

You can ask me what information I hold about you, or ask me to delete it, at any time. In practice that will usually be your email list sign-up, an email you sent me, or nothing at all.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new "last updated" date.
